Q.
3. How do you view the social structure of the Harappan settlements? Discuss.
Ans.
The Indus valley society can be marked by a
high degree of social heterogeneity but this marked difference was expressed
through various ways. We know that under the chiefdom the kinship relations
control the different aspects of society and urbanism is focused on the
interdependence on the various communities. The urban centres like Mohenjodaro
and Harappa of the Great Indus valley civilization best expresses the very
notion of urbanism.
