Q. 2. Discuss the nature of archaeological evidence in understanding the palaeolithic societies.

Ans. The Archaeological Evidence for Palaeolithic Societies: Rawalpindi in Pakistan is a Palaeolithic site which is around 2 million years old and registers the proof of earlier human settlements. The Palaeolithic age comprises from roughly 2 million years age to about 10,000 years ago. On the ground of the types of tools and
technology used for making them, this vast time span could be classified into the three sub-phases like lower, middle and upper Palaeolithic. We study the lower Palaeolithic as the period which happened around 2 million years ago when the middle Palaeolithic age is studied as the period from 80,000 years B.C. to 40,000 years B.C. and the upper Palaeolithic age comes from 40,000 till 10,000 years B.C.
